The Bobby McFarrin song brought some strange ideas to my head recently. Our nation, our world, has been in a panic. I’m hoping panic is not really a word that we use often as followers of Christ. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” So far in 2020, we are striking out on all three. As a society, we tend to wallow in fear as though it were comfortable. We don’t seem to realize the power of God’s hand and the purity of his love. And can anyone tell me, where a sound mind has gone.
Today I want to encourage us all to take a breath. Calm down. Realize God has not relinquished his sovereignty. When you finally exhale that deep breath. Just know God, Himself, gave you that breath in the first place. Try not to let your mind, wander in places of despair like a runaway train.
And finally, eat your spinach, wash your hands, drink plenty of water. And don’t feel like you have to touch every doorknob. Let’s proceed with confidence in our Lord and know that this too shall pass.
Thank you for letting me rant,
